A Trip Through The Desert With German Artist Gerrit Oppelland-Hampel

Artist Gerrit Oppelland-Hampel will release a limited edition of only 10 prints of a series of 11 small fine art giclée prints for public sale inspired by her recent trip to Palm Springs and the desert. Sized 15×12 inches, her “Desert Trip Prints” works reflect rather untouched landscapes with contrasting elements of our “cultured world”. Her process includes letters, numbers and regular patterns that transform the works into images speaking two languages and provoke a feeling of the familiar and the unfamiliar as well. Other images celebrate the emotional impression of her encounter with the dramatic landscape.

“I have always been attracted to the desert. During our first trip to California with a longer stay in Palm Springs, I took the opportunity to transform my involvement with this great landscape into digital art, a personal very satisfying experience. For some of the pieces, I worked with underlying photos and I am thrilled by this newly discovered digital possibility to conserve and convert beautiful photographic memories into inspiring art works,” Gerrit states.

A German native, Gerrit Oppelland-Hampel currently resides with her husband Peter in Germany and Spain. An artist with over 20 years of experience and former leadership coach, Gerrit is known for her colorful and vivid abstract expressionist style acrylic paintings. Gerrit has exhibited her art in Germany, Spain and the U.S. As a source for her art she has traveled many exotic places including Ladakh, the Silk Road, Namibia, Greenland, Western China and Bhutan.
