Fascination of Glas Objects

Marbella Galeria Isolina Arbulu presents fascinating glas objects by Gala Fernández

This was a great surprise! I had seen some photos of the glas objects and was a bit reluctant to visit the exhibition – I tent to visit mainly exhibitions with paintings or photos. But as I like the Gallery of Isolina Arbulu and like to know what is happening in the art world of Marbella I made an appointment. How good I did it! I found fascinating glass objects in Marbella! It turned out that these glas objects had the power to fascinate!

Organic Geometry – a collection of fascinating glass works

The exhibition “Organic Geometry” is part of an experimental project, a series of glass vases blown inside handmade copper wire geometrical structures by the artist and designer Gala Fernández Montero.

Nicely presented in a very puristic surrounding, getting their very special light that creates an interaction between the shadows and the objects, the glas works develop a special magic. The longer we looked at them, the all the more they revealed to us their special character and the more enthusiastic and fascinated we were. A good part of this was due to the sensitive comments of the knowledgeable gallery owner Isolina Arbulu.

The charm of these fascinating glass objects for me is a mixture of vintage atmosphere, workplace atmosphere and the poesy of an art work. I especially liked the transparent objects. They reminded me of places where fisher have their nets and you see these transparent glass balls. Some feeling of the good old times come up.

Award winning artist in Marbella

This exhibition was planned for March and like so many others had to be canceled. The artist had seen the venue but was then stuck due to the Covid 19 crisis and didn’t yet have the chance to see her exhibition. But next week she will fly over to Marbella and visit the gallery.

A place to go to in Málaga! Juan F. Lacomba at the CAC Málaga

A place to go to in Málaga!
Juan Lacomba at the CAC Málaga

This was my very first visit to a museum since February this year, when I went to see the exhibition in the Museum Jorge Rondo, a secret tip for Málaga and definitely another place to go to in Málaga!

The CAC MÁLAGA is a temple for contemporary art. It has its home in a spacious and “clean” white building. Mostly three exhibitions are running at the same time. We visited the incredible show “Lacomba. Aqui a lo lejos”.

Having all the art for us alone!

Paintings of Lacomba in the CAC Málaga

For me stepping into a museum is like entering another realm. For me its a place of contemplation and joy. After a short fever measuring and putting our masks we were allowed to visit this great “free of charge” museum. Setting my feet into this temple of culture after long months of cultural starving was an incredible feeling. Seeing the paintings of Lacomba so wonderful set in this great environment was sheer joy. The more as it was a very specific Corona experience: we were the only visitors to have all this art for us – well watched by the personell of the museum. From this experience I can say: a museum is definitely a place to go in Málaga or elsewhere in these times. Maybe better to avoid the weekend.

Lost in Time and Lost in Galleries

Sometimes I feel a bit moody.

I forget days and dates and time, I live without a watch. I feel like floating in the time, there is no directions, no “hard limits” – no appointments, no musts. Just waking up and going over the daily business that all happens in the house as we are not to leave the house.I started a series called “Lost in time”. Its only two paintings yet, but it feels like it could be more.

I am in a time bubble. On one hand I feel like nourished by so much time at my hands on the other hand I feel like in a boat without rudder. I am drifting, but there is a current that carries me in some direction. Part of the current is painting.

In this special time I changed my painting habbits. I started to paint on paper – only on paper. Canvas, the underground I normally like to use, seems too durable, too long lasting. Paper is light, smaller, drifting, more open, not so serious, qualities that all seem to be more appropriate for this exceptional time. With paper I paint flat on my working table, which faces the window instead of working on an easel that makes me stand for light reasons with the back or the side to the window. So I contemplate for many hours the view, which is beautiful but now it shows a huge building place. They are building new houses in my earlier green zone!

Hidden paintings

The other day I was a bit moody and longing not only for a long walk outside but was missing my paintings. More than 50 percent are locked-in as well, they are in galleries and a showroom! Now they are “Hidden Paintings”! In a little restaurant in Mijas I installed a beautiful wall with some larger paintings. They are hidden since 20th of January!

Hidden Paintings in Gallery Saphira & Ventura in New York

In October 2019 I delivered in person 12 paintings on board in this beautiful gallery in the heart of New York City.

I was so fortunate that some of them were part of a group show in February. Since then they are locked down. Now time goes and all the galleries are closed since long. New York is one of the most hit city by the Corona Pandemie. Who knows, when galleries and museums are opened again?

A Secret Art Tip for Málaga

I love to create art and I love to visit art. Málaga is a city with a great richness of museums, some very famous names included as there are: Picasso Museum, Thyssen Museum, Contemporary Art Museum (CAC), the Russian Museum ( from San Petersburg) and the Pompidou Museum and many more.

A very special place….

“The only expressionist museum in Spain”, so labels Jorge Rando, the owner, curator and painter, his privat museum. He has strong links to many European countries and was just recently with his paintings in a great show in China. He also has strong links to Germany. When I visited the first time I saw an exhibition of paintings of Käthe Kollwitz, one of the most known German female artists of the 20th century.

This time the visite gave the chance to see a wide spectrum of the works of Jorge Rando, exhibited in 5 or 6 showrooms.

The museum is situated in the yet not so developed and posh areas from Málaga (which adds to its charme!) and has a rich cultural life of its own. Its definitely worth a visit and worth to check out the cultural program!!!!

I visited the museum, which was founded 2015, for the second time. If you are looking for a place of art that also gives some room to contemplate, this is your place! Great atmosphere, very interesting exhibition, no entrance fee! And if you love art books: a long wall full of this treasure in the Library! Sit down and browse the books! Museum Jorge Rando!

New York, New York! My Artist Dream comes true!

NEW YORK, NEW YORK! An artists dream comes true!

What an excellent and exciting day! At the 19th of October we crossed over by ferry from New Jersey to freezing cold New York , an adventure in itself! My husband nicely helped me to transport 16 (!) paintings and 12 frames- you cannot imagine what a large suitcase we carried around ( besides the other 4 large ones on our flight from Spain to New York). I had put down a wish this year in May in the Artist 2 Life CVP 19 program, which I attended. My wish was to present my art in New York! Not long after doing this, I was contacted by a representative of the gallery!  Life takes wonderful paths sometimes!

All the paintings were accepted but then I kept 4 and Ieft 12 of the 30×30 cm series at SAPHIRA&VENTURA GALLERY  in central Manhatten. Can you imagine, I was standing in that gallery, a dream becoming true and did not manage to separate from all of my paintings! Somehow they became my kids.

Great surprise gave me the gallery: 4 of my paintings were presented the same evening in the show ”The bonds of love” and I could be present at the opening which was well visited and even added a wonderful performance of which you here see only the mask! The exhibition is to be seen till 28th of October. What a story! My paintings will be presented in several shows over the year 2020! Super exciting!
PS If you would like to know about the Internet program of Art2life CVP19 let me know! I did enjoy it very much and it inspired my art enormously!

If you are interested in my paintings , now in New York, here are some of them (more you will find here Small formats – kleine Formate – pequeños formatos)
