Did you ever dream about having your own Gallery?

Gallery at Home in Winter Park

I have been venturing the idea to make our home a place to feature exhibitions time by time, to make it an event  gallery. That would be very convenient for me as an artist, but it was more a thought than a plan. So when I heard about Gallery “Art at Home” I was very keen to see it and meet the people who have the courage and spirit to do it in real!

Veronique Benouaich has maintained  and nourished her dream of a gallery of her own. She always enjoyed art very much. When moving from Paris to the South of France she became very good friends with many artists. When moving from France to Winter Park in Florida she finally  fulfilled the dream of establishing  a gallery  in the  new house near Orlando.

Veronique and her husband

She brought over many of the delicate art works from her artists friends in France and she and her husband transformed their new house into a space that served as a gallery and as a home. Regularly she presents new artists besides her rather steady exhibition. A Vernissage and the Finissage are the two official days for the gallery show, but visits of this beautiful white home and gallery are welcome in between by appointment.

Featuring a Korean Artist and several French artists in Winter Park

We had the pleasure to see some very delicate and explorative art by some of Veroniques artist friends and the featured Korean artist Hye Shin, who works with textil and paper elements.

A  very attractive privat art exhibition

I enjoyed very much the visit and Veroniques explanation of the outstanding art works and the ideas behind them and unusual materials that were used. It’s a very special chance to look at art in a  private atmosphere.

I remembered that two of my first exhibitions took place in the stunning house of my friends who were so friendly to offer there white walls to my paintings and we had a great time inviting their friends and mine.

Do you have experience with privat exhibition as an artists or visitor? What do you think about it?

If you happen to be in the Orlando region and you want to enjoy the exquisite visit to “Art in a Home” you  will find all information at Daver Art Gallery  !

Hello Picasso! Hello Málaga!

Hello Picasso! Hello Málaga!

Picassos birthplace is Málaga. As one of its very famous sons he is a visitors magnet and gets quite some attention with a birthhouse to be visited, a Picasso museum and of course a celebration of his birth day. This year in October it would have been his 124 birthday which is celebrated with an „Octubre Picassiano“. Many events will take place and artists willl exhibit paintings that are related to Picasso.

I was invited but hesitating  whether to take part in this challenge or not. I am not so much the artist who follows a concept. But good thing came out of it: strolling through the Picasso Museum I started to get more involved with the idea of doing a painting inspired by the great masters work. I fell especially in love with his pink period and the animals he painted. This months you can see my painting in the Galeria Javier Román in Màlaga together with 30 more surprising art works.  Entrance free and just round the corner of Picassos birthplace in Màlaga. The exhibition is open till 20th of November.

I see black – Ich seh schwarz – Veo negro

Lately I started with a lot of experiments – time by time an artist needs some freshness in her/his head and new inspiration. Finding new ways, collect new experience, has to question and expand her/his style. See some of the experiments here.

I give me a rather hard time, as I try to prepare for quite some traveling lying ahead of us. To stay tuned in my painting praxis I decided to take a sketchbook. I am not a great friend of sketchbooks and do not really a praxis. I like big formats and acrylic paint – that is quite a dirty job and asks for a lot of material. My trial with water color nhttps://artgoppellandhampel.com/?p=3384&preview=trueever gave me any satisfaction. So now I try how works Gouache. Quite fine, I can say after my first trials.

I love the old farmhouses in Andalusia, with all there add-ons and partly deconstructions they seem to tell a story of live. So I was fascinated by this one near Tarifa. The dog I fall in love with on my walk at the Open Studios Gaucín. You will find a photo of her there. If you are interested in this art walk, read more here.

My passion in painting is color. I could say: my painting is all about color. So now I went on a diet. A strong challenge to brake familiar habits. The sweet Lana, the dog above,  belongs to this series.

Some of the paintings are on wooden board. It gives a lot of possibilities to be mal treated. You can cut it, scratch it, work with hard tools on it. It invites all kind of spatulas. Some of this treatments a canvas would not be so happy with. Other experiments are on paper DIN A 4. Somehow a much smoother process.

Normally I love to work with rather bold and vibrant colours. So the challenge lies in tamed colours. This ones are not quite tamed, the motto was more: Go wild….

This are my experiments with a very reduce color palette. A lot of interesting new experiences through diet! Sometimes I feel very hungry for my familiar food 🙂 Wonder what comes next.

Next comes an exhibition in Marbella in which I and the members of Costa del Arte Collective will be taking part.  More than 90 artists will show there work in the Avendida del Mar – that’s in the center down to the sea. Opening the 20th of June at 19:30 to 23:00  till 23rd of June, open from 16:30 to 23:00 hours.

Very much hoping to see you there!

Starting 3rd of May to 24th of May: Mini Cuadros – small works – Kleine Arbeiten

Costa del Arte Collective showing small works in Almuñécar!

The Costa del Arte Collective is quite excited. We are going to have an exhibition in Almuñécar in May – in the Espacio Creativo of Annabel Keatley. The exhibition will be opened on the 3rd of May at 7 pm and can be visited until the 24th of May. So I spent quite some time concentrating on Mini Cuadros. I am pretty sure, that it will be a wonderful exhibition. I already had a sneak preview of some of the works to be seen of my artist colleagues Annabel Keatley, Anouk Slegers, Lieuwke Loth and Sally Hirst.

Mini Art Workshops will accompany the exhibition of Mini Cuadros!

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of exclusive workshops held by Annabel, limited to only three participants for each workshop!
I am rather tempted to take part, as Annabel works with with special techniques – as all of the members of Costa del Arte Collective do.

Take your chance to participate in a series of creative workshops. The workshops will be held in the mornings, from 10-12.30 pm with refreshments included.
The classes are designed to combine and connect with eachother, with a focus on enjoying the process of making work and learning new techniques. The workshops are as much for beginners as for experienced artists.

Some of my Mini Cuadros you can see in Almuňécar

I was rather engaged to create some Mini Cuadros, with time sitting in my neck, as the Art Walk Cómpeta  was also in front of me very soon.

I have been working on the Greenland series as well, making it a collection of five, acrylic on paper. They will be framed with museum glas. Pretty to look at. If you like to see the exciting photos of our Greenland journey tap here.

My new color preferences are shown in this series – still no name for it. They are 20x20x4 cm on stretched canvas and bring some energy to the room. It seems, I am just in love with orange and a bit of violet.

Miradas! – Look! – Schau! …art work of 20 Artists! Obras de 20 artistas!

Just right for the Christmas time I am invited to my 9th exhibition this year…..I am happy to participate in an exhibition that was set up by a truly dedicated man to art: Rafael Fernandez Pacheco. We met at the ART WALK Cómpeta (which will start this year at Easter Saturday!) and ever since, I am following Rafael on Facebook. Gives me a great insight into the art at the coast. It feels as if he is visiting and writing about two to three exhibitions a day – wonder when he ever sleeps.

I was so lucky to participate with 5 of my paintings. My artist colleague Anouk Slegers from Costa del Arte Collective participated as well.
Estaba tan feliz de participar con 5 pinturas.

A little Greenland Series – eine kleine Grönland Serie -Una pequeña serie de Groenlandia.

A look behind the curtain:
The transformation of an adventure to an artwork!

The journey to Greenland was very impressive. So I was intrigued to dip a bit deeper into my memories and see it all with the painters eyes. Here are the first results, more hopefully to follow! I had a lot of fun to convert my memories and photos into paintings. It was quite a new experience for me, as I usually don’t work with photos.. Here you can see, how I worked .

16.12.2019
Meanwhile some of the original paintings are sold. As this charming paintings have a lot of friends I decided to offer a Limited Edition of Fine Art Prints of the “Little pink house” series.  As a subscriber to my newsletter you will be the first to be informed about the release date. Back to the artist journey……

This painting is a emotional memory, I started with.

Then I took a series of photos and worked on it…… click to enlarge!

I was fascinated by the atmosphere and the loneliness in a repellent nature….click to enlarge!

So the little pink house became a symbol of a place of shelter and warmth….click to enlarge!

Most of these paintings are very small, (25x35cm on paper) like the settlements are very small in a vast and wide landscape. This is the color story of one on the paintings. Click to enlarge

and this is how enormous the icebergs feel and are….

The Power of Art – How Paintings change your Room

A painting is a very powerful instrument to give spirit and life to your office or home. Depending on style, color and size it “makes”the room or it adds kind of statement, that you want to make. A painting as well reveals a bit about your personality. A painting in your room is what the eyes are in the face: they attract because they are speaking, they can hide something and they can reveal something about your mood, your spirit, your personality.

Two paintings, that “make” the entrance hall of an Apartment Hotel in Bonn

Wood 1 and Wood 2 were inspired by a holiday I spend on the Darß – a peninsular in the Baltic sea. Riding with the bicycle through the endless woods at the coast with its thousands of rather straight trees and the changing lights impressed me a lot.

Now these large paintings (145×160 cm and 160×145 cm) are the lead theme for  the design of this entrance hall of the Apartment Hotel Kaiser Karl in Bonn. They add some charme and character to the hall and they clearly give the mission to the visitors, that this is not a simple business place but a house with personality and individuality.

If you are in Bonn, feel free to visit the hotel. The staff will be happy to show you my paintings. You will find more in a permanent exhibition of paintings by me on the souterrain. I found this photos and hotel information at Hotel.com Kaiser-Karl-Apartmenthotel
